Entering into the advanced stages of learning guitar, the RockSchool Grade Six book takes students on to higher levels of lead and rhythm playing. Learning a larger amount of scales, pupils are expected to be knowledgeable and able to transpose what they’ve learnt into different keys on request. Students are also expected to understand the difference between different scales, and have a good grounding in basic music theory.
If this all sounds a little scary, don’t fear. The Rockschool grade six course is perfectly achievable for anyone who’s had a good grounding in the guitar and has the time to commit to a regular practice routine. Even at this level, the RockSchool exams are meant to be a fun and enjoyable experience. With the right amount of practice, there’s no reason why a good result can’t be gained at the grade six exam.
